East Coast

 E-mail

The East Coast of the Dominican Republic fantastic beach areas. This area does not really have many 'typically' Dominican towns or cities. The coast is predominantly made up of large, gated, all-inclusive resort communities. If your vacation calls for kicking back on a beautiful beach, playing a little golf, or doing a little gambling, these resort areas are great for you. If you are looking for a more active, cultural vacation, you can still find some of that in Miches but not in the Punta Cana and Bavaro resorts.

The beaches along the eastern coast of the DR are among the most beautiful you are likely to discover. This area is definitely the jewel of the east, if not the country, in terms of beach vacation destinations. The turquoise clear waters and endless white powder sand beaches, lined with tall palms, seemingly go on forever. The large, all-inclusive resorts in this area are like small, self-contained cities. Resort offerings can include various swimming pools and watersports activities, different restaurant and nightlife options (including casinos), golf courses, spas, tropical gardens and even mini-zoos. Most visitors to these areas fly directly into Punta Cana Airport, as it is quite a drive from most of the country's other international airports. Excursions from the this area include deep sea fishing; a visit to Cortecito Beach - which offers seafood beach lunches and tourist souvenirs; and Manati Park, a theme park where one can swim with dolphins.
